NEMO EST05 Regional Baltic Sea Model Configuration and Forcing Workflow
Description
Description
This repository contains the configuration, run scripts, setup files, and supporting forcing structure used to prepare and execute the NEMO EST05 regional model setup. It includes the workflow for assembling run directories, preparing meteorological, runoff, and boundary inputs, linking static model assets, and launching simulations within an HPC environment. The directory structure is organized so that the main run scripts, reusable setup files, and forcing data remain separated while working together as a complete operational or replay-style modeling workflow.
This configuration is a regional NEMO setup for the Baltic Sea on an EST05 grid with a horizontal resolution of about 0.5 nautical mile, roughly 1 km. It uses atmospheric bulk forcing from ECMWF products, river runoff forcing with temperature and salinity inputs, and unstructured open boundary conditions prepared from Copernicus Marine data. The setup includes sea-ice physics through SI3, supports restart-based hot starts as well as cold starts, writes outputs through XIOS, and is arranged for HPC execution with separate preparation of meteorological, runoff, and boundary forcing before the model run.
